Overview

This Privacy Policy explains what information LiverSignals collects, how it is used, and the choices available to people who use the app.

LiverSignals is a patient-facing self-management tool. It is not monitored by clinicians, does not currently integrate with EHRs, and is not an emergency service.

Information We Collect

Depending on how you use the app, we may collect account and login information, symptom tracking entries, and basic usage information needed to operate the product.

  • Account and login information, such as a user-chosen username that is transformed into an opaque authentication identifier, plus password credentials handled by our authentication provider.
  • Symptom check-ins and trends, including weight entries, bowel movement tracking, swelling or abdominal fullness responses, symptom responses, and medication adherence responses.
  • Structured self-reported hospitalization follow-up, such as whether an ER visit, observation stay, or overnight admission happened and whether it seemed liver-related.
  • Setup and preference data, such as reminder settings, caregiver mode, display preferences, and other configuration choices.
  • Basic app usage data needed to operate and secure the service, such as authentication events, device or browser requests, routine operational logs, and optional de-identified engagement events if you opt into study participation.

Information We Do Not Intentionally Collect

We aim to collect only what the app needs for self-tracking and account access. We do not intentionally ask for a full medical record.

  • We do not currently pull data from EHRs, clinic systems, or hospital systems.
  • We do not intentionally collect insurance information, Social Security numbers, government IDs, or full billing records.
  • We do not require a legal name, date of birth, or clinician identity to use the core app.
  • We do not intentionally collect free-text clinical notes as part of the daily tracking flow.
  • We do not ask for hospital names, doctor names, or medical record numbers in the structured hospitalization follow-up prompts.

How We Use Information

We use information to provide the app, store your entries, generate trend views, support reminders, improve reliability, and respond to account or support requests.

If you opt into optional study participation, we may also use de-identified engagement patterns and self-reported hospitalization follow-up data to evaluate whether the product is being used and whether users report hospitalizations or readmissions while using it.

We may also use aggregated or de-identified information to understand product performance and usage patterns where permitted by law.

AI-Generated Insights

LiverSignals may provide pattern summaries, educational explanations, or trend descriptions generated or assisted by automated systems, including AI-based tools.

These outputs are educational only. They are not medical advice, may be incomplete or incorrect, and should not replace clinical judgment or emergency care.

Data Storage and Security

We use reasonable technical safeguards designed to protect information, such as HTTPS in transit, authentication controls, and database access controls.

No system can promise perfect security, and we do not represent that the app is immune from all security events or misuse.

We do not claim HIPAA compliance unless and until the app is explicitly configured and documented for that purpose.

Data Sharing

We do not sell personal information. We may share information with service providers that help us run the app, such as infrastructure, hosting, and authentication vendors, subject to appropriate contractual protections.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect safety, or to investigate misuse of the service.

Account and Data Deletion

Users can request deletion of their account and stored app data through the app’s account deletion controls or by contacting support.

Deletion requests are handled within our systems and service providers according to technical and legal retention needs, but some backups or logs may persist for a limited period.

Children’s Privacy

LiverSignals is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 without appropriate authorization.

If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app without permission, please contact us so we can review and address the issue.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised version in the app and update the “Last updated” date on this page.

Your continued use of the app after the revised policy becomes available means you accept the updated policy.
